讲座题目:Towards a Geographic Knowledge Base

主要内容:We aim to build a geographic knowledge base, which consists of geographic entities with the finest level of address such as apartment buildings, houses, stadiums, parks, etc. We focus on obtaining visual, textual and spatial features of the entities. One important application of the geographic knowledge base is to provide more visible navigation instructions. Instead of “go 200 meters ahead and turn left”, the navigation system will then say “go 200 meters ahead and turn left at the black seven storey building”. In this talk, I will discuss the challenges towards such a geographic knowledge base and talk about a few advances to address the challenges including sentence generation from knowledge bases and entity alignment between knowledge graphs. This project has been recently awarded the Google Faculty Award and is highly related to Googles Vision Positioning System.
